Screenwriting
I won the ten thousand pound development prize in the Northern Film and Media/Gateshead romantic comedy feature film screenwriting competition.
Previously I was one of two winners for the North East of the UK Film Council's script initiative to find new feature film writer voices around the UK.
I was one of eight writers from the UK on Arista Development's fast track programme for screenwriters, Adept 3. The fully-funded programme included mentoring, intensive script development in London and Italy and attendance at festivals including Cannes and Rotterdam, etc.
Filmmaking
I recently wrote, produced and directed a new short film shot on the Red camera. For further details see: http://www.substitutefilm.co.uk
I directed one of the UK Film Council/Northern Film and Media digital short films, Rebound, with Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones as the lead. Joe Caffrey also stars. The film mixes live action and animation.
Before moving into screenwriting I was originally a producer/director in documentaries. I directed a documentary about the Metropolitan Police and CCTV for Carlton Television and a number of super 16mm shorts for the BBC. I produced a BBC 10 x 10 drama and a documentary about the Native Americans in South Dakota for Channel Four.
Ideas Generation and Development. Content Provider.
I do freelance development originating ideas and content in different fields from television programmes to new media/digital/arts/multi platform projects. As a creative I also work with businesses branding and brainstorming new projects, company and product names. I provide copy and content for websites.
Content and branding
As well as working with production companies I have worked with other businesses and have done development and brainstorming for new projects, product names, etc. I also write web
content. Since moving into this studio I have begun to develop cross platform/media projects with artists and other creatives.
Novels, plays and radio
I have had interest in a novel from one of the Random House companies. I have also begun writing plays for the stage and radio.
